Lajawab

This rangoli design has been adapted from a decorative wall clock design. I remember Shreshtha Muraal mam was drawing this rangoli with me. fine saw dust colours have been used. ready colours available in market may be coarse. One can grind those in the kitchen grinder and sieve. for ornamentation semolina has been used. It adds white colour which is not found in saw dust. Sauce bottle can be used to draw lines with it. For writing anything inside rangoli draw with finger first and then fill the desired colour.

Long rangoli

This border rangoli was made on convocation day. It was designed for the border area of the stage. Stage is covered with white sheets by the tent house hired for this purpose. Drawing is done by using coloured chalk. Materials used are finely cut good quality lawn grass, yellow marigold petals, orange marigold petals, rose petals and white flower petals.

Stage

Cut grass and cut flowers have been used. Bring on order or take a apir of scissors and do it yourself. edging has been done with marigold garland. a drawback with this material is that everything dries up and shrinks up to afternoon. Looks very rich and refreshing in the morning hours.

Square

This rangoli was made by Kajal in Indradhanush function and got a prize. Sand colours have been used. Sweat in the palm makes it difficult to sprinkle the sand. Use of cut mirrors do the embellishment.

Awesome

Looks awesome. The team was Himani saini, Amandeep Kaur, Saloni and Rimika. Shreshtha Muraal was the supervising teacher. The colour combination is attractivea and the colours are fresh and bright. Very suitable for the formal and important function like convocation. See how WELCOME has become a part of the design.if you want to make unique designs adapt from somewhere, in spite of copying.

Big geometric

This geometric design was very tricky to draw. It came out to be very heavy gradually. Again semolina has been used for the bejewelled look. Just it has to be protected from squirrels.

Scroll

Saloni and Rimika made this side addition to main rangoli. A stencil cut out of chart paper was used to draw exactly same shape. It speeds up the work and makes it perfect also.

Geometric

Himani Saini and Shreshtha Muraal with simpler and less decorative version of another rangoli you will see on the blog. When two functions are there in quik succession we can make a lighter rangoli on first day and can extend it on the next function.

Adbhut alpana

Sonia and her classmates made this alpana. It was a memorable experience. A lunch was going on and the team was sitting in the centre place painting this alpana. I think it was our best ever alpana. Water soluble poster colours marketed in small bottles have been used. Flat brushes are more useful. The colours may be later removed by mopping or washing the floor. Line drawing is important in any alpana you make. I must mention Shreshtha Muraal was accompanying me.

Peacocks

Another version of a rangoli we made on an other function another year. The colour combinations are changed. Again the  zero number marble chips dyed in our own Home Science Lab.

Who else could come so late. Respected principal Parveen Bhardwaj sir were there, checking the preparations. The three of us came with our family members and made this rangoli to save the morning hour rush. Flour sieve, soup sieve and tea sieve were used to spread the base colours.

Four half moons

Saw dust and semolina were used as raw materials. The shape was very unique- we had never made before. It is a pleasure to make each rangoli.

Grass and flowers

Cut grass and cut flowers were used to make it. Filling grass with an edging of rose petals is giving the flower design a highlighted look.

Semicircle.

Multicoloured rangoli in which Sarla mam gave a helping hand. made in front of girls common room.

Pillar

Verticle from a pillars. Its a kind of heavy and figurative rangoli made in the  porch of the college. marble chips is a material heavy enough to be disturbed by wind. This multi colour design has nature theme.

Circle alpana

Poster colours and brushes are needed for this kind of work. Flat brushes are more useful. One fourth inch, half inch and one inch brushes are available in market. The alpana was made outside girls common room. The place has very hustle bustle all the time. This painted style floor decor is safer than any other style. White and red colours must never be dispensed with, in my opinion.

Sports day rangoli.

Sports theme looks timely on sports day. Svagatam has been written by using thick and sturdy carboard stencils cut by students of B.Sc. Home science. Red being a heavier colour has been used in the lower part and orange on the upper part of Svagatam.White outlines are giving good lift to the rangoli. Plant pots look included in the rangoli by making circles around their base.

Eight leaves rangoli

On white tiles it loos fabulous. White marble chips used in flooring were dyed in acrylic colours. Crimson red, dark green and orange hues have been used. veins have been drawn in the leaves using fingers. They show easily because of white floor under it.

Peacocks rangoli

Blue theme with added yellow and orange.. Pair of lengthwise peacocks facing each other. It was made for convocation function of the college. The white floor is an advantage for rangoli making. Every colour looks beautiful on it. Rangoli was made with dyed marble chips. It is difficult to give fine details with coarse materials. Amandeep- h
Himani and team did it well.
